Thanks for the tip. I like the oatmeal usually but I do find it comes out a little "pasty" at times. I'm going to try this trick next time...
I like it now,I also add water to make it better and a little sugar free syrup..
Oatmeal is one my favorites; I find that I like it made with more water so I can drink it instead of needing to eat with a spoon...
Ugh, I still hate the oatmeal and am glad that we only have a few packs left. I found that if I soak it overnight then I can at least eat it. It gags me otherwise (And I am not a picky eater)...
My oatmeal trick is - I add 3/4 cup to the bowl as soon as I get up. Take my shower, do other stuff...let it sit for 1 hour then microwave for 2 minutes. Let sit for at least 5 minutes before eating. It comes out perfect for me...
Wow, people make oatmeal with the oatmeal?? I have only used mine for muffins. The blueberry muffins are fantastic!..
I make oatmeal at work with hot water almost every day, and lovvve it..
Easy peasy. Take muffin, I mean oatmeal packet, empty into container and add 1/4 t. baking soda, 1/8 t. baking powder. In a separate bowl, combine 1/3 cup water with 1 t. vinegar and a dash of vanilla (optional).
I get two silicon cupcake-sized baking cups pretty maxed out with one serving..
I read that they're better cold, so I always put them in the fridge for my 9:30 meal the next day. I've never tried them warm, they could be sublime..
I don't have a microwave so I don't know how to make them that way but I'm sure experiments would yield edible results..
I hated the oatmeal so I was making them into muffins and I love them that way.
But ..................
The other day I tried the Maple one as oatmeal and really liked it - finally!.
Guess it is true - tastes change over time...
This is a great tip! I only used 1/2 a cup of water from the hot water side of the cooler and it turned out great. Much easier too and no risk of bubbling over in the microwave...
The first time I tried the oatmeal I thought it was downright nasty. Then I tried a different flavor and did an additional stir. The secret is in that last stir. I make it just how the package says, however after I let it sit at the end, it needs another stir. This magically brings it back to what I would consider normal oatmeal consistency. Without that stir it's like paste...
I take my oatmeal and mix it in a cup with approx 5-6 tbsp of water ,stir good, then dump into a coffee cup , put in micro for apprx 70 sec, if you touch it and feels a little damp nuke it a few sec longer,, apple one is very good and so is maple .....
