I've used online dating (online dating with Match.com) for the last few years. I met my current SO through match.com. BTW I'm 45. I feel online dating (online dating with Match.com) can be a great way to meet men you wouldn't normally come in contact with. You have to be careful and keep things slow, there are players on these sites. Make the effort to have many conversations online before meeting f2f.

One thing I did was to have a second e-mail address just for my online dating. That way when I didn't want to have further contact with someone they didn't have my main e-mail address. Always meet f2f for the first time in a public place and make sure you have your own transportation home. Don't drink much, if at all, on the first meet and keep it light..

I'm 49 and am currently in a relationship (thru Match.com) with a 36 year old man I met online (through Craig's List).  Almost all of my relationships over the last 10 years have been with men I met onlinethrough match, yahoo personals and craig's listand some other sites which no longer exist. .

So I'd urge you to give it a trywhich site is best for you is really going to depend on your areathey really do seem to vary by geographic location..

I would combine it with doing things you enjoy to meet people IRL as wellI just think it's best to not put all your eggs in one basket..

I think someone else mentioned the OLD (online dating) board so I will add my suggestion that you post there as well as read posts to get some pointers.  Many of us on the board are in this age group..

Sure, try match and other sites that are geared around hobbies and interests. Good dating (online dating with Match.com) sites and things you enjoy - i.e.: pets, etc.  You'll be amazed what you find..

Great advice - particularly like second email for online dating.  You really do need to be cautious but yes, it can be a great way to meet someone.  Also don't try to meet the person rather quickly vs dragging on the emailing for too long.  We've all heard stories of people who were emailing to each other, texting etc, obsessively, thinking they're in love and they haven't even met the person yet!.
