You never know - he could be married or have a girlfriend or be in some other way unavailable.  If you want to ask him for coffee, go for it.  But in my experience, if a guy is both interested and available, he'll ask you out.  But sure, there's no harm in asking if he wants to grab a cup of coffee.

Ask him out for coffee!!!  Not too much risk in this.  It's a little of your time and maybe the cost of a couple of coffees..

I personally never directly ask but if they're super slow, I'll drop a subtle hint about hanging out.  Or if they're esp dense, then an OBVIOUS hint lol  But I only do one of those and if they don't bite right away they're cut off...

If you ask him out the first time, then the ball is in his court.  Let him be the one to lead or you will end up always putting yourself out there for someone who may not be able to give you the "effort" you want...
