I use the golden flaxseed as well as the brown flaxseed. The golden does have a nuttier flavor, but you really can't tell the difference when you use it in the Medifast items as the other flavors tend to overpower it. But it still gives you the beneifits of flax and it does help hold muffins together in the many recipes I've made from here. I tend to use whichever flaxseed I find a better price on when it's time to buy more...
Where did you find the golden flaxseed meal? I've only used the brown and I love it. I wouldn't make my muffins without it!..
How much flaxseed do you add to the muffin recipes? I've been wanting to try some of these but am a little afraid after hearing mixed results on the outcome. It sounds like this might help. Thanx.
Brenda..
I purchase both golden and brown flaxseed from store locally called "Whole Foods Market".
Here's a link you can put your zipcode in and see is one if near you..
There are also places online you can order from, simply Google "golden flaxseed".
I use a muffin recipe I found here in the forums about 4-5 weeks ago that uses 2 packets of Medifast oatmeal and 1 Medifast shake. I add to that 1 Tablespoon of ground flaxseed. I get 3 meals out of the recipe as it makes 6 muffins = 3 meals at 2 per meal.
I've since adjusted the recipe and add 1 packet of Medifast eggs and now get a very light, good textured muffin. I end up now with 8 muffins = 4 meals at 2 per meal...
BTW, I buy whole flaxseed and grind my own with a little coffee grinder. Much more fresh and I grind about a 1/2 cup at a time and then store in the refrigerator...
I use the golden flax seed, purchased at GNC. I use 1 tbl for 1 muffin, or oatmeal. I grind mine with my Magic Bullet, about 1/2c at a time also..
