My first question is: How do you find someone's personal e-mail address from match .com using their site name such as Easy.

My next question is: Hi all!.

Today, I did something that I have NEVER done. I was out and about today running errands, and went to a furniture store to browse. A guy who worked there (the manager, I think), caught my eye because he was very attractive. He was very friendly (not flirty, but customer service-friendly) and gave me a good deal on furniture. I found him attractive, and was trying to figure out a way to break the ice. It didn't happen, because he was at work, with people all around, and it would've been awkward and inappropriate.

I thought to myself that if he were interested, he would've said something, right? Then I realized that, no, he was at work and it would've been unprofessional for him to approach a customer in that way, even if he was interested. So, about an hour after I left, I did something that I have never ever done: I called the store to speak to him and ask if he is single..

The call: he answered the phone and I reminded him who I was and he remembered. I asked him if he was single....here's the interesting part. He hesitated, then said,.

Him: "yes, I am actually.".

Me: "Why the hesitation?" .

Him: "I've actually just had a break-up...a fresh break-up, like within the last month".

I didn't know how to respond to that, so I just said, "oh.".

Him: "Yes...but I'd like to converse with you...if that's ok with you.".

Me: "Sure....ok." What could I say? Getting to know someone starts with conversation, right? .

Him: "Would you like my number so you can call me?" Should I have given him mine?.

Me: "Ok..."(I took the number)..

Him: "I look forward to hearing from you.".

Then, we said our good byes. It was cool. I won't go into it with any expectations. "Getting to know" someone who has just ended a relationship (thru Match.com) can be risky, right? There are probably still feelings there and the person could even end up working things out with the other person. Also, he probably isn't ready to start dating (online dating with Match.com) seriously again now yet. So, I see it as me stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something I wouldn't normally do.

Is that too long?.

Who know's what'll happen. It's a leap year after all, so I guess it was appropriate for me to initiate something for a change..

Whoa, what guy asks if you would like his number? Weird. Never heard of that in my life (but I'm only 18 lol)...

Sounds like you handled that very well =). If you are interested in maintaining that mature, open and friendly type atmosphere between the two of you then dont play the telephone game - call him sooner than later. Dont wait a week..

Yes, it could be risky getting to know someone just fresh from a breakup but you dont have the details of the relationship (thru Match.com) or the breakup yet. He could have dated someone for a short time and had no intense feelings invested. I'm sure you'll find out more when you speak to him..

Hi!.

Thanks for the advice...I think I'll call him sometime this week. I was just thinking that I should wait because I don't want him to think I'm chasing him or in hot pursuit. Even though I took the chance, I still have my hang-ups about approaching men...it's something that's hard for me to do, with my traditionalist views on men being the aggressors.

I'm definitely going to call him soon, though!.

I think it's awsome that you tried something new!! and it turned out okay!!.

I'd call him earlier than a week and I think it's okay to give him your number. I think typically guys like to do the chasing. You got it started, so let him run with it a little too..

UPDATE!.

Well, my excitement at taking a chance has completely diminished! I called the guy today, a week after I met him, and he didn't even remember who I was! Isn't that great?? When I called him, he asked me to refresh his memory...when I did, he asked me another question, like he still didn't remember me. Great! Then, the call ended a few minutes later when he asked me to call him later because he was on his way out. I said that he could either call me later (I initiated contact and made the first call) or some other time. I have no intention of calling him again!.

I guess this is why I've never taken this kind of chance before..

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that he acted that way! I don't know how you're feeling about it, but I still think it's good that you took a chance and asked him for his number. At least this way you aren't wondering about the guy at the furniture store and "what might have been."..

Sounds like this guy is into games - playing hard to get. It may work when women do it to men, but it usually doesnt work the other way around...
