There are recipes out there already if you do a search on soup but try:.
1tbsp vinegar and a few dashes of Tabasco in the chicken noodle = instant hot and sour.
1tbsp salsa in the chili..
I hate the soups(chicken noodle &chick/wild rice) too...I can't even bring myself to make a recipe with them. This is the recipe for "soup chips" that I copied from here a while back (sorry I don't know who to thank!) I haven't tried it so I can't comment on whether it's good or bad...hopefully you'll like it!:.
Soup Chips.
Puree the soup into a powder, then mix it with 2 tbsp of water, 1 tbsp hot sauce (or 3 tbsp water if you don't like it spicy) It should be the consistency of a paste. Spray a microwave safe plate with Pam. Micro for 3 minutes and then flip and micro for 1-2 more minutes. Watch it closely so it doesn't burn. Then when it cools break into chips...
Thanks so much! I tried it, I need a little bit more water then what the recipe calls for, but boy it was actually do-able! I broke it up into three crackers, got a wedge of the laughing cow light swiss, and put it on each cracker! I will defintiely be using this to get use of those soups, thanks again!!..
You're welcome...I may try it myself now. If I can bring myself to open a pkt of the soup...yuk!..
I'm going to have to try and whiz my chicken noodle and make chips. I hate the soups too but am going to try and make one into a tostada shell instead of chips and have salad, etc. with it. Enjoy!..
I love my chicken noodle soup, I simmer in on the stove for 20 min. with and extra 1/2 cup of water and I add a chicken flavor cube, add some hot sauce at the end and it come out sooo good, it's great in this blizzard weather we're having in Chicago...
Add Cholula hot sauce, or lemon, or fresh ground pepper, even green Tabasco is good...
I actually like the chicken soups and always add a low-sodium boullion cube & extra water. The other day I stumbled onto a new trick which made a HUGE difference - a liberal sprinkling of the Classic Chicken Seasoning from Stacey Hawkin's Time Savor Gourmet website (she is also known for developing a lot of lean & green recipes). I don't know Stacey and have never met her so this is not a plug for her products per se. I do have a few of her seasonings and the chicken seasoning made a huge difference. Now if she could just come up with a way to season the Maryland Crab soup! Eck!..
I tried simmering the chicken noodle soup stovetop witih a dash of hot sauce and a chicken bullion cube and an extra cup of water and it was so good! Thank you for the suggestion since it give me a way to tolerate the chicken noodle soup. I have hated all the soups up to this point. It's snowing outside now and I have a hot mug of soup and I'm still on my diet...this is the life!..
Here's what I do with the Chicken noodle, save 1 oz of chicken from your Lean & Green and add it during the resting phase. It will be warm enough from the residual heat. I also add 1/2 cup steamed chopped broccoli. I really like it this way. However, I can't stand the Chicken and Wild Rice soup. In fact, after about 1/2 a bowl, I have a stomach ache. the rest is going down the disposal...
