Yummy! Can't wait to bake some PERFECT muffins. I went online and ordered the True Lemon, which sounds fabulous for some of my other recipes, too. Here's my question, though - do you think it will completely ruin your wonderful and carefully developed recipe if I use another flavor of SF syrup? I don't have the almond. I am reluctant to spend the money (with shipping and such) for one recipe. Would vanilla or caramel work, do you think? Of course I have almond extract..
But if almond syrup is a "must do" to make the muffins work, I will go ahead and order a bottle. I totally bow to The Muffin Lady's expertise!.
Thanks for sharing...
Silver - really like your name -.
I made muffins today where I used Hazelnut flavored syrup...always experimenting...actually, they're not bad...I added a wee bit too much cinnamon, so they were kind of strong....
I have used the vanilla in the past - not bad, just don't have the "snap" that you'll get using the Almond....
If you use the caramel, I suggest adding 1/2 tsp cinnamon into the mix...still using the lemon - and still using the almond extract...seems to always work the best. I've tried coconut, etc...almond's the best..
But I find that when using one of the "darker" syrups, it seems to scream out for some cinnamon in addition to everything else..
Where are you? If you have a Smart & Final, or a World Market, or even (I've heard) a Walmart...or in my small mini-Vons market, too...they carry the Torani, or DaVinci, or some sugar free syrup...usually over in the coffee section. My small round-the-corner Vons has it in pint bottles, but in a pinch, it's available there..
Anyhow - let me know what you think...and somewhere along the way, do try the Almond Syrup - I think you'll agree that it is the best..
Happy muffin-making.
Oh - Cowgirl (Sheryl) at Heart gave me the idea to carry some True Lemon with me in my purse...she swears that just a teensy bit of it completely improves water, especially tap water. And I shake it (and True Lime) all over my fish and broccoli...I think you'll use it a lot..
Your post made me laugh - the bowing part at the end...
Loosie..
Help! Where do you buy True Lemon??.
Pat in Ca...
Pat:.
You're in Cal like me, so Vons, Ralphs, etc. - or online...just google True Lemon..
Several people have let me know that they found True Lemon in their supermarkets in CA...in the section where the bottled lemon is..
Loosie..
I got my True-Lemon from good ole' Wal-Mart. Also got True-Lime - awesome over a salad...
Thanks for the recipes...I will have to break down and try these soon. ~Shannon~..
Thank you Loosie! I will check it out!!! Look forward to trying your muffins!.

Where can I find other Muffin Lady recipes. They sound great. I think I could live with the idea of eating the muffins for my Medifast meals...
To add to the locations of the true lime/ true lemon- In my Albertson's in California they had packets of them (think table packets of splenda/sugar) by the Crystal Light. But they had bottles/jars (think Molly McButter size) at the bottom of the spice aisle...
Loosie:.
Thank you for taking the time to come up with these receipes and sharing them with us. I can't even imagine how much product you've gone through to get them just right!.
Where can we go to get your other recipes?.
Sue..
I would like to know how to make this recipe work without the Torani syrup. I have almond extract and splenda handy....Please help. I need to make muffins. I live on Drury Lane.
(get it?).
Thank you so much...
I used a different recipe and they turned out wonderful. As a matter of fact, I made another double batch a little while ago.
1- pkg oatmeal any flavor.
1- pkg shake mix any flavor.
1 t. baking powder.
1/2 t. cinnamon.
Dash of salt.
2 T. splenda.
1 t. vanilla.
1/2 C. + 1 T water.
I used the large muffin pans, (the new ones that are like rubber) and I made 4 muffins, 2 equal 1 meal. Spray pam in your muffin pans and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes..
Enjoy!..
How do you heat these up? Or do you?.
I made cookies the other day and when I heated them up in the toaster they ommitted this god awful smell and tasted like you-know-what.
Muffins are better right?..
