Congratulations on joining the family.. You will lots of great information and "meet" alot of folks.
I love the Medifast oatmeal. I put my cup of water in it. micro for two minutes and let it sit for about 10 without touching it. It gets really thick. Your taste for the Medifast will increase in a few days. It is diet food, it is not going to taste like grandma's oatmea.
Give your taste time to adapt without trying to add too many things to your food. The calories and carbs add up super fast...
I just started today as well. I am truly looking forward to losing this extra 45 lbs. I've been lugging around since having my first child 7 years ago. I feel like this is MY YEAR and I'm so EXCITED!!!..
Welcome to the Medifast family!.
Lynne gave good advice about the food. You really will start to enjoy it more as time goes on. I loved the oatmeal from the beginning, but I find that the longer I soak it before I put it in the microwave, the better it tastes. I have some peach oatmeal soaking right now!.
I am really excited for you! Medifast is amazing, and it works better than anything else I've ever tried. Make sure you drink LOTS of water to keep flushing your body out (about half your weight in oz is best), and make sure you eat every 2-3 hours, and if you stick 100% OP (on plan) I'm sure you will do great!..
I started today too! I need to lose about the same amount of weight. Maybe we can keep each other accountable! Good luck on your journey!.
Blessings,.
Chanee..
CRR7433 that sounds WONDERFUL!!!.
Good Luck to you also..
Let's keep in touch!.
Heather..
I just started today, too! Started with a Cappuccino -decided a coffee start might be a good way to begin the day. Good luck to everyone!..
Good Luck to you too Ducks85 - I did not really like the cappuccino; but I figured I wasn't eating gourmet foods and need to deal with it...
Hi cr7433!.
Congrats on starting your journey today. I've only been on Medifast since 4/5. I didn't try the oatmeal until the 2nd day and I gagged when I tried it. I had 2 boxes - maple brown sugar and peach, so I thought, well there are 2 boxes that I'm not going to eat. Then I found a recipe for oatmeal bars here on the site. If you want to give them a try, here's the recipe:.
1 pk Medifast Oatmeal (any flavor).
2 Tbs sugar free syrup - some people use Walden Farms, but I prefer Starbucks Vanilla (counts as 1 condiment).
2 1/2 Tbs water.
Pour mixture in a ramekin or 1 1/2 cup container that's been lightly sprayed with Pam. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes, then microwave for 1 minute 20 seconds.
I don't care for oatmeal in the first place, but this tastes WAY better to me and now I don't have to toss the oatmeal. A lot of people will tell you to just eat everything "as is" in the beginning, but personally I experimented and had one altered Medifast meal per day. I'm in this for the long haul and I want to enjoy what I'm eating, or I will quit. I know the recipes on here will be my saving grace. I'm going to try and post my favorites on my page under my Blog, so check back later and see if any interest you. You MUST count the condiments in your daily allowance, which is why I limit myselft to 1 per day..
Best of Luck,.
Joy.
Start Date: 4/5/10.
Week 1: -7.
Week 2:.
Week 3:.
Week 4:..
Joy - Where did you find recipes? I'm like you - If I don't like the food, I'll quit. That would be a total waste of money; but if you could alter them some, that would be great!..
Congratulations to all the newbies on this thread from a fellow newbie! I just finished my first week with a 9-pound loss, and I'm extatic.
The first week is definitely the toughest with the hunger, lack of energy, figuring out how to make the foods (or how to make them taste better ), etc... But it all starts to come together within a few days. I feel much more energy now. The hunger is still there, but not the kind where you'd sell your first born for a carrot.
Just take it one day at a time and come here for encouragement in moments of weakness or just for a little lift...
Congrats fellow newbies. I started last week and I've actually seen the scale move! There's a whole thread on recipes. I found some good ones through google. I will also say that I don't look at what I'm eating and it helps, since the crab soup tastes pretty good, but looks like it might have been eaten and returned. I freeze the shakes for a pudding pop type breakfast. I will also say that what everyone says is true.
I intend to love it next week! Good luck out there!..
Hi I started on Monday ,and I have to say today is so much better. I am not starving and the food does seem to taste better. I also have more energy which is important since I have a 3 month old. I know now I will be able to make it through the month and when I put on my pajama pants tonight they felt looser. Good luck..
Congrats! I started yesterday too. I have to say that I found a recipe on here for "Martha's Oatmeal Muffins". It was super quick to prepare and is fairly enjoyable. I don't have the recipe on hand, but it's all over the message boards. Good luck!!..
