For the oatmeals I ALWAYS use one condiment and put a packet of sweetener in there...
I haven't found ANY way to make the oatmeal palatable - I've tried "cookies" and "muffins" but still can't stand the weird flavor they have..
As for pancakes - they are one of my favorite Medifast food! I make them this way, as do many other people: put the packet in a shaker jar with barely 2 oz of water. Add a couple drops of vanilla and 1/8 tsp baking powder. Shake EXACTLY 5 times and let sit at least 5 minutes (some claim that it helps to let it sit longer, but I've found that 5 minutes is sufficient). Heat up a small nonstick skillet and spray with butter flavor non-stick spray. Let it get nice and hot before you make the pancake. I like to make one big (and it is BIG) pancake but others make 2-3 smaller ones.
I have pancakes every day. The whole process doesn't take long at all anymore. I mix up my batter and let it still I'm heating up the skillet and making my kids' breakfast. The chocolate chip are my favorite! Many people on here use sugar free syrups on their pancakes, but I limit my artificial sweeteners, and I think the pancakes are just fine on their own!..
I eat the oatmeal as it is. First I let it soak in 1/2 cup of water for like 15 minutes. Then I add more water to make a thinner consistency and cook on stove top until it thickens up. It's thick, but I drink water as I drink it. Once you do it a few times, it's really tasty!.
I d on't like how the pancakes taste cooked on the stove. I pour the batter in a bowl and nuke it for a minute. Then eat it like that. Yum. Almost custardy!..
I'm thinking that if you didn't love oatmeal before then you certainly aren't going to love it now. I loved it then and I really love it know just the way it is.
However we aren't all the same and there are a lot of alternative ways to prepare it. Don't give up on it.....it may just grow on you. Best of luck!..
Most of the medifast food becomes way more palatable after the first week. You got to remember your tatsebuds are used to over salted over sugared things so the Medifast food is going to be really bland @ first.
For me on the oatmeal I use a packet of splenda and a dash of butter buds...
I never ordered the oatmeal becaues of what everyone here had to say about it, but it came free in my first "free meal" pack on the VIP program - so I'm sitting here eating the peach oatmeal for the first time. Other than being too lumpy, the taste is pretty good. I threw in a package of splenda and a dash of cinnamon. Just wanted something a little more filling than a bar this morning. It's funny how all the meals are nutritioually equivalent, but a bowl of oatmeal, soup, or chili feels like it tides me over longer. Go figure!..
I always make it into a bagel thing mixing an egg white with it and micro for 1.5 minutes. Today I added chopped jalapeo and topped it with laughing cow lite cheese. 1 condiment and part of my lean. I don't count the fat cuz it's about all I'll have today aside from the meat. Keep experimenting...
I made maple n brn sugar oatmeal today and just added 3/4 cup of water and some sugar free maple syrup it was very good...
I make waffles with the pancake mix...I use just a small sprinkle of baking powder,.
2 tbls of egg whites, a splash of water, mix it up, let it sit for a minute or two and.
Pour into waffle iron.....mine really come out like regular waffles. Add a spray of.
I CANT BELIEVE ITS NOT BUTTER, and a bit of sugar free syrup....really good..
