What veggies do you like that are on the green list? Have you downloaded all your lists? The green list is here: http://www.medifast1.com/community/d...an_veglist.pdf.
My suggestion is don't worry about what you didn't like in your past life. Your tastes will change on Medifast and you'll find you like more veggies than you ever did. If you'd like to start with a couple of safe ones, take a bag of radishes and slice them up. Put them on a cookie sheet that is lined with foil. Give a light spritz with cooking oil of your choice. (1-2 sprays).
Place in a 400 degree oven for about 20 min or until slightly browned on the edges. You'll need to keep an eye on them. Not sure my oven keeps the correct temp. They will taste almost like french fries. You can do the same thing with the white turnips, only make them into wedges for a steak fries type.
Do you like spinach or are you just adverse to green? Spinach lightly sauteed with olive oil, garlic and 1 tsp of lemon juice is heaven on earth and goes great with fish.
There are a ton of ways to make veggies, but those are my favorites...
I love using the steamer bags... One name brand makes "garlic cauliflower" and it's my FAVORITE!!! They also have steamer bags for broccoli too... and usually 1 steamer bag is just over 3 servings of veggies.
Also, I know you said you hated green beans... well my dad loathed green beans and now he's an addict with how I prepare them! I roast them in the oven or on the grill. Kind of the same idea as MT_Cup above... put them in a 425 degree oven and drizzle with some olive oil and any (or no) condiments of your choice. I usually like to sprinkle on some garlic powder and some red pepper flakes to give it a nice crunch. I roast them till they are more well done - some even burnt (about 45 mins - and don't forget to turn them).
But I made him try one the way I make them and now he steals them from me all the time! So taste buds do change Good luck!!!.
Best,.
Lisa..
Thanks for these great suggestions. There are very few veggies I like. As a matter of fact, I have still kept my "apple a day" habit on Medifast because otherwise, I wouldn't get anything grown from the ground in my diet..
I will try the suggestions above (I hate radishes but I've only ever had them raw, so maybe the oven version will work). The spinach one sounds good, too..
Anyone else have suggestions for those of us who can't stand the veggies?..
I check out when I want to get some veggie ideas...
That thread has tons of recipes on it...
I cut zuchinni into wedges and put them on george forman for about 3 min. then take them off and sprinkle with parm cheese and let it melt.yummm I make them ahead of time and put them in the fridge. I too love roasted stringbeans..Actually anything roasted as far as veggies go is great with just a spray of oil and some spice..just don"t over cook it. Good luck keep trying ,..
Here is a larger and more complete list of veggies and amounts given to me by one of the Medifast veterans. It's helped a lot..
Thanks for that! Do the colors on that list (Green, yellow, pink) indicate that a particular veggie is a better choice than another?..
Absolut: I think it's just to divide the alphabet. It does show you how many grams or oz in a serving, so that's really all you need. 3 servings total...
Absolut: I just looked at the list...I will ask the person who gave me the link and see what he says about the color differences. I have a feeling it's just to make it easier to read, but I'll ask him tonight. He's always in the chatroom in the evening...
