Your question was: Parkay spread ok for Nutrisystem?.
This has been asked on two forums today by the same person....
Third try anyone?..
It can't be a fat because it doesn't have any fat.
Keep in mind that anything that says 0 calories per serving doesn't mean NO calories. FDA says that anything with less than 5 calories per serving can put 0 calories on the label. Most of us count it as 4-5 calories. So 1 spray would be 1 calorie. 20 sprays would be 20 calories and count as a free food...
Thank you cgbinky! I use a couple of sprays on plain popcorn and it really makes the difference...
Please don't think that I'm jumping all over you because I'm not. I'm just curious to know where everyone is getting this stat from. I keep hearing that the whole bottle has 900 calories and that seems like an awful lot of caloriesit's not that big a bottle. I can't find where the total calories are on the bottle but I'm thinking if 8 oz. has 900 calories than 5 sprays should have more than 0 (or under 5) calories...
No offense taken. When I first read there were that many calories in a bottle I couldn't believe it either. I did some searches and alas, it appears to be true.
The government allows a company to say 0 calories if there are less than 5 calories per serving. That is why you'll notice some bottles of "no calorie" drinks say 2.5 servings, when almost everyone is going to drink the entire bottle...
If I remember right, someone contacted the company on this but not sure..
That's 5 or less calories per spray... it's deceptive labeling.
They call a "topping" 5 sprays.
There are 226 servings of toppings in the bottle.
That makes a topping around 4 calories per 5 squirts...
Thanks everyone for the input! Those labels can be misleading. I use like 4 or 5 sprays on a cup of plain popcorn...so I'll count it as 2 free foods. I never use all 3 free foods anyways...
If you're only using 4 or 5 sprays, I wouldn't count it at all. That's less than 5 calories.
If you see the Smart Balance spray, try that when you run out of Parkay. The Smart Balance squeeze is only 5 calories per Tablespoon, and I think it tastes pretty good...
Technically you should not have 2 free foods in one sitting. If you choose to use all three, you should spread them out in the day..
However, the spray is so low cal that I wouldn't even bother counting it as long as you keep it 5 sprays or less...
