Keep up the good workon your weight loss. Go to Walden Farms.com they have some really good dressing that are 0 carbs & 0 calories 0 fat. You can order them in little packs they come 6 one ozpackets to a box. Can't tell the difference. We have tried the creamy bacon, thousand island and of course ranch. If you goout to eat orworkput them in your purse.
Shirley..
I have not tried the Waldens Farms because I am in love with Galeos. If you do a search on the boards on Galeos you will find several threads discussing how yummy their dressings are. Shipping is pricy, but worth it once you try it. I believe that in Illinois there is a chain of grocery store that is going to be carrying Galeos - you are SO lucky!! The store chain is called Sunset. I hope you have one near you. They have been a lifesaver for me with my salads...
I also like Galeo's and Walden Farms... I also use the "South Beach" Ranch dressing by Kraft... tastes just like the real thing...
I hate Walden Farms Ranch dressing. It has zero flavor. I usually just use olive oil and balsamic vinegar...
If you want to make your own salad dressing, one way I do it is to mix fat free yogurt with some Worcestire sauce, garlic powder, basil, pepper, and anything else you want to throw in. To make Thousand Island, mix in ketchup and some pickle relish. I have not looked into whether the relish is allowed, but it probably counts as a condiment. Used some last night to make tartar sauce for my fish - reduced fat mayonaise with pickle relish, garlic powder, pepper.
Because I am new at this, and do not yet know all the yes and no foods, I do not add these things often. Just try and keep track, adding them into my plan. If I am wondering about something I just enter it and see what the breakdown looks like - too high, I look for something else!.
First mini-goal is BMI = 29.5 = 180 lbs = overweight, no longer obese!..
Thank you all for some GREAT ideas! I knew you all would be a great help. Now I can't wait for tomorrow's salad.
Tygerpaw, I don't have a Sunset store nearby, but I am going to google it as soon as I get off the board and see where the closest one is located. Making my own dressing will be great for home use, but I am also going to check out the packaged dressing for travel and work. They sound like just the ticket...
Oh, oh, ohhhh...I just googled the Galeo's Salad dressing and the site says that they are sold by Whole Foods. I have a Whole Foods! Whooo Hoooo, I'm shop'n tomorrow!.
Thanks!!!!..
I checked the whole foods in my town - Boca Raton florida..
They never heard of galeo's. They said each store carries different things. I was so excited to go there hoping for the dressing..
I'll order this week online as I really want to try them...
I like light ranch dressing. Hidden Valley light is my favorite...
I usually eat hidden valley ranch and only use 1/2 tbsp. That way I get the flavor, but moderate the calories, carbs, and fat..
Something that I also do that is really easy is first thing when preparing dinner put a bit of olive oil and balsamic or red wine vinegar in a shaker and finely chop some fresh herbs. Use whatever you like. I like cilantro or basil. You don't need a whole lot of the herbs. Fresh ones go a long way. You can also add a pinch of fresh garlic, salt, fresh ground pepper, etc.
Shake it up and let is sit on the counter to blend while you make the rest of your meal. You can keep the extra in the fridge...
