Your question was: Should I add extra protein to Nutrisystem meals?.
I've been working out 90 minutes a day for about 30 days now. Some days, 15 to 20 minutes of it might be yoga, sometimes though it's all higher impact, step aerobics and boxing with weighted gloves on. And I definitely am averaging some higher calorie burns around 700 a day. Especially on the weekends..
I just really try to watch the protein. It's possible to have the Nutrisystem plan and have 15 or 20 grams of protein swings depending on the choices you make. I've been checking my online food diary for protein grams and am trying to average 70 grams a day or more..
I'm not sure if that is the right answer for everyone, it just seems to be helping me since I've been more aware of it. And it was what my personal trainer had told me a few years ago that I should try to average 70 grams or more a day regardless of calorie counts, etc..........
On days I haven't paid attention I've ran out of steam even making sure I do my snacks and it's not a good feeling.
Good luck and congratulations on the calorie burn! Kjenks is so right a lot of this just depends on how you feel. If I can help it, I'd love to have that kind of burn and not add any extra proteins/calories whatsoever..
I do know going over what you do with a Nutrisystem dietary counselor can be really helpful. Mary Gregg???? Not sure if I have that name right, I just know I've heard what a big help she is. I know PamSB has mentioned her before. Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm quite sure someone else here can be!!!!!!!.
Jillian..
Thanks, Kim. I really do feel good, so will just stick to plan. After all our rain lately, it was a beautiful day and I am glad I was able to take advantage of it!.
And, thanks to you as well Jillian. Great job working out so much - looks like it is working well for you!..
I would discuss it with the Dietary Department. They may have you add a dairy/protein, or even a fruit with it, or sometimes a carb..
Dietary Dept, 800-585-5483, ext 1341..
Thanks, Pam, I will give them a call. Hopefully this will be a frequent occurance for me this summer. So many fun places to hike around here...
Good for you Peg!!!!!!! If you don't mind sharing what you find out that would be great!..
Update - I just spoke to dietary services, and Mary was very nice and very helpful. She said it would be good to add a 200 calorie fruit/dairy or protein serving on days when I do a hike and burn that many calories. And, that it is important to listen to our bodies when they let us know we need a little extra...
