My first question is: What are the top reasons people enter and join matching sites such as match.com/eharmony/etc?.

My next question is: I am 31 years old and have been talking to a man that is 50, we recently started to see each other and I have some reservations and would like some help... I talked to him for about a month before we finally met, I really enjoyed our conversations. He is extremely intelligent, funny, sensitive and considerate. Every quality I look for in a mate he has. However, I do have reservations about the age difference. I am not completely attracted to him, but the more I get to know him it seems the closer I find myself to him.

I want him to feel as wanted as he makes me feel, or damn close. I would feel I am denying him something he really needs. The attraction just isn't where i'd like it to be and the fact that he is older makes me worry about what ppl think. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated...

Eleven years can be appreciable or no big deal depending on people involved. And that's the point - don't base your feelings on how to proceed in this relationship (thru Match.com) on worrying about others' reactions. How do you feel?.

The attraction just isn't where i'd like it to be>again this is a very new relationship (thru Match.com) just where do you think it should be? This sounds like a very mature and good solid getting to know each other time. Dont be in such a hurry enjoy the ride and dont worry about the ending yet..

The fact that he is older makes me worry about what ppl think>you cant control what people think, they are going to think what they think no matter what you do or dont do. Dont waste your time and energy worrying about this. If you are happy and are getting enjoyment out of dating (online dating with Match.com) this man, then go for it, be happy and quit your worrying, it may just ruin a good thing..

A couple of things really stand out in your post. First, you seem to feed into the BS about what society says about age. How come? If you're concerned about what society will think, I'm not sure you're emotionally ready to be in a serious r-ship. How could you be. If you're "afraid" to LOVE, b/c of what people think, then... I can't see how you'd be able to love someone else without it being FEAR based..

A closed mind ALWAYS closes off the heart. STOP CARING WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK!!!! Once you're able to do this, I think your r-ship with YOURSELF, and then others, will only get better...

Yes it is up to you, an individual decision, but I too have a friend who married a man 25 years older and now feels more like his caretaker. Have they had wonderful times? Absolutely? Would she do it over? Probably not..
