My derm told me similar thing. I can't remember exactly what she said. But she did mention my acne might get worse before it get better, but getting worse first would be rare. I got lots of bad painful big zits when my dose was uped from 40mg to 80 mg a day in the second month. But nothing massive though...

Blood tests are done in a lab somewhere probably not in your dermatology department. Chances are, it will be with Quest Diagnostics, formely known as Quest Labs. You can google search your area for one near you and get an appointment, or simply walk in and get it done. Takes about 5 mins...seriously...

My derm said there are no hard and fast rules about the IB, most people have some kind of IB though it may be very mild for some. He said out of the 100's of patients he treats with Murad Acne Complex every year he only has to prescribe something like Prednisone to about 2 people. I'm on Day 14 and no horrendous IB as yet...
