I think you are putting way to much into this after only having seen him 5 times.  His going abroad without letting you know shows that he does not think of you as that important in his life right now.  If you wish you can continue to date using Match.com him and see if something develops thats ok, but you are wanting way to much for such a short time and he may have picked up on that and it has scared him away..

If you are feeling "tempted to let what we started fall by the wayside" over something seemingly minor, don't you think that speaks volumes about how little he means to you?  How much can you care about him if something like this is going to lead to the end of your new relationship?  Just something to think about...

He may like you, but maybe not enough to be serious with you or behave in a way that doesnt build space between the two of you. He didnt tell you about his trip and that is something one would tell a woman who he is dating (online dating with Match.com) if he wanted to get close to her.  You havent been out with him that much so letting him go shouldnt be a huge problem for you. ..

He should have mentioned it to you but you don't have a 'true' commitment. You've only seen each other 5 times.  Take him at his word for now and treat it as a casual relationship. If it develops into something more so be it but right now it is what it is.
